Abstract
When Ottoman Empire was going thorugh the disintegration course, Sultan Abdulhamid II was the one to be the most effective on governmental administration and to be mostly discussed. His most distinguished policy was Islamism. In this article Sultan’s policy towards Kurds in the frame of Islamism is to be dealt with and answers to the following questions are to be sought. How well did the Sultan get to know Kurdish geography and the Kurds? Why did East Anatolian Area mean a lot to him? What is Kurd’s place in Islamism policy. What did the Sultan do in order to keep Kurds in Islamic unity and maintain state wholeness? What are special policies that were developed and performed by the Sultan? Beside these, what kind of contribution did the policy carried out to protect Kurdish tribes, the reform reports for Dersim, Hamidiye Regiments (Alays), and Tribal Schools make to Ottoman Empire? Can Abdulhamid’s Kurdish policy help solve today’s problems?
