Abstract

This study includes administrative arrangements that have been made in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia Region in the years between 1925-1945. Conjuncture that occurred after Sheik Said rebellion pushed administrators of Republic to make a number of adjustments. I parallel with these requirements, some of provinces have been eliminated especially the boundaries of them and some provinces have also been converted into district status. The most important aspect of this study is to reveal purpose of these administrative arrangements that were made in those years. Because, the central government had focused on after Sheikh Said Incident seriously. Therefore, all the measures that have been taken that security was first have brought to fore the projection of state related to East. Study also includes political atmosphere caused by party-state integration that shelved the municipal elections and effect of this process on the region. In particular, the appointment of governors and governor of mayors are major focus of this study. It is very remarkable that people who would be appointed as mayor by Ministry of Interior had to go through the investigation of governors and appointments were made accordingly. In the last part of this study, the effects of party-state integration and its administrative content on the administrative arrangements in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia Region would be discussed.
