Abstract

In this study, the scale of teachers’ attitudes towards teaching profession which has four factors, ‘Appreciating’, ‘Occupational burnout’, ‘Indifference’ and ‘Openness to professional improvement’ and developed by the researcher was applied to 650 teachers working in Adana Central District to examine teachers’ attitudes towards their profession according to their gender, professional seniority, faculties they graduated from, types of schools they work, martial status. The data was obtained in the education period of 2014-2015 and analyzed in a computer program. The research demonstrates that teachers who are female; have between 1 and 5 year professional seniority; are graduates of different faculties from faculties of science, literature and education have more positive attitudes towards their profession.
