Some Comments on the Origins and History of Macedonians
Macedonia is located in the center of the Southern Balkans, north of Greece, east of Illyria and west of Thrace. The ethnic structure of this area has been discussed historically. Until now many writers investigated the origin of the Macedonians in their own way and as a result, arrived at different conclusions, often in conflict with one another. However in it is a fact that the ancient Macedonians were a distinct nation, ethnically and culturel different from their neighbors. The life style of the Macedonians, being determined by specific geographical and historical conditions and was different from that of a Greek city-state. At the begening of the fifth century BC, when the state first becomes accessible to the historian, Macedonia was ruled by Alexander I. Alexander I, is the first known Macedonian king. In this study, after it was informed about geography of Macedonian, origins it was also mentioned about population of Macedonia and kingdoms of Macedonia. At the and of the article, the study was summerized with the result of assessment.
