Turkish Language Coursebooks In Terms Of Author And Text Preferences
Coursebooks are among the main resources of Turkish lessons. The texts included in these books contribute to the social, cultural and psychological development of students as well as to the recognition of various literary genres. For this reason, special attention should be paid in selecting texts to be included in the coursebooks. This study aims to examine secondary school 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade Turkish coursebooks in terms of author and text preferences. To this end, 1112 texts in 29 Turkish coursebooks were examined, and the findings were obtained regarding the distribution of texts by their resources, the most commonly included authors and texts. According to the results, it was found that the texts in the coursebooks are mostly written by single author, Şevket Rado, Mehmet Önder and Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu are the most frequently preferred authors, and Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu's "Türküler Dolusu" poem and Refik Halit Karay's "Eskici" story are the most commonly used texts in the coursebooks.
