The Effect of Realıstıc Mathematıcs Educatıon Approach on Students' Achıevement and Attıtude Towards Mathematıcs: Applyıng Rme in Teachıng of Sequences
In this study, the effects of teaching 11th grade sequence unit with Realistic Mathematics Education activities on student achievement and student's attitude towards mathematics were investigated. Semi-experimental pattern with pre-post test control group was used in this study. This study was conducted with 50 students that are studying in the 11th grade of a high school in Malatya (Turkey) in 2015-2016 academic year. The Realistic Mathematics Education supported teaching model was applied to the experimental group (n = 25), where the current teaching was applied to the control group (n = 25). Data were collected by equalization test, pre-final success test and Mathematics attitude scale. The data were analyzed with the nonparametric Mann Whitney U and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks tests.
As a result of the findings obtained, it was determined that there was a significant difference between the experimental group students studying with realistic mathematics education and the control group students who continued their education.
