Abstract

In this study, the effects of physical geography characteristics of Merkezefendi and Pamukkale districts within the administrative borders of Denizli province are discussed. The most important factor that influences the choice of residential areas where people live and draws the boundaries of the settlement is physical geography elements. The geological and geomorphological factors, soil characteristics, climatic conditions, vegetation, hydrographic features included in these elements constitute the infrastructure of sustainable urbanization. As of 2018, physical geography elements were effective in the distribution of the settlement in the central districts where 62% of the city of Denizli lived. Therefore, the field research was done and the data of the districts were obtained from public institutions, and the data obtained were mapped in GIS environment and extensive literature research was conducted.
