      <title>Egyptian Fortresses in Lower Nubia during the 12th Dynasty (1991-1782 BC.) of the Middle Kingdom: Beginnings of Ancient Egyptian Colonialism and Imperialism</title>

      <description>This study is part of a series on the “cross-cultural encounters (trade, emulation, colonization, conquest or annexation) as a primary cause of social and political change”. Its purpose is to examine the relationship between Ancient Egypt and Nubia during the 12th Dynasty (1991-1782 BC.) of the Middle Kingdom, which emerged from the “chaos” of the First Intermediate Period and marked by an increase in foreign trade and wealth. The political ideology of the new order advocated a rebirth (a return to the glorious past). Unlike their predecessors in the Old Kingdom, however, the monarchs of the Middle Kingdom pursued an agressive foreign policy, sent military expeditions into Upper Nubia (The land of Kush), colonized Lower Nubia and undertook building projects including military fortresses and mining quarries. During the Middle Kingdom, numerous forts and fortified settlements (military-trading posts), and seasonal quarry and mining camps co-existed alongside the indigenous Nubian population. Thus began subjugation of neighboring peoples and Egyptian imperialism.</description>

      <description>Kızucan, which came under the Ottoman control in 1515, was the fief of Allahverdi Bey in the Çemişgezek sancak of Diyarbakir province. In 1523, it was connected to the Kigı sancak with the Gurzelik Township. With the establishment of Erzurum province in 1535, it continued to remain in the administration of Allahverdi Bey as an autonomous sancak. This sancak, which is in the hereditary status, was registered three times in 16th century. From these registers, it is possible to observe the socio-economic changes taking place at short intervals in the 16th century. However, in the 17th century, the tradition of tahrir was abandoned, as the timar system remained dysfunctional. Timar income were given to the iltizâm and new system came into effect. Thus, awârid tax census was done to determine and control the income of the central state treasury. From central tax house registers, the topography, settlement, and socio-economic structure of the settlement areas can be examined. In this study, the settlement, population and religious structure of the Kızucan in Erzurum province have been examined comparatively using awârid registers dated 1642 and 1643 as well as three cadastral record books of 16th century.</description>

      <description>Nabi is known the greatest representative of the gnostic (hikemî) style in Divan literature tradition. New studies will be provided for understanding him in a better way. Nabi who is the writer of Munsha'at which is almost resembling a corpus owns an école in Divan literature. It is fairly new as a whole studying about Nabi’s works in science world.Nabi's work named Munsha'at has been prepared and completed as a doctorate thesis. In this article it has been studied and tried to search the marks of the settlement areas and especially Diyarbakir city according to Munsha'at. Thus it will be understood what Nabi understands from the city in addition to the expectations from the residential areas /cities. The following statement was used to commend Diyarbakir city in Munsha'at: Diyarbakir was called “little Istanbul” in earlier times. The reason of this statement has been understood in your time. This statement also shows the importance of Diyarbakir city which used with Istanbul in the same sentence according to poet or also for this period.Nabi explained some of his friends, fellows, and familiar persons in letters of his Munsha'at. These persons’ inhabited places are also necessarily mentioned in related letters. The mentioned places gain the meaning according to characteristics of the persons who have received the letters. Thus Nabi’s approaches about the human / person arise in space. The space gains the meaning according to the persons who are continuing their life there. The person or persons who live with poor character in a residential area has been criticized by Nabi. In such a situation, Nabi prefers his choises in favor of space where people live in.The space is so valuable for Nabi. He thinks sometimes that the human causes irregularity in residential area. But the human who causes this chaos is most effective element to enter in an order again.</description>
