      <description>This paper deals with such domesticating strategies as ethnocentric reduction and abusive fidelity applied in journalistic translation as an act or process of reproducing news stories. Of these, the former reduces the foreign text to target-language cultural values, detaching all the features of the source culture. The latter, on the other hand, comes across as a principle regarded as a sign of resistance to widely accepted translation norms that conform to the hegemony of the target language and culture in that the linguistic and cultural difference of the foreign text remains intact. In accordance with the contemporary concept of translation, texts are domesticated and tailored in such a way to easily suit the target audience expectation. Hence, the process in news translation in which the original text will be obliterated at the expense of journalistic purposes may not fully comply with the traditional source text-oriented paradigm of translation although it seems to be congruent with its pragmatic nature.</description>

      <description>The main aim of this study is to determine the views of pedagogical formation students about art. The survey method was used in the study. In this study, pedagogical formation students' opinions about art were compared in terms of gender, faculty, department and education level variables. The study group covered teacher candidates enrolled at the Pedagogical Formation Course at Faculty of Education at Firat University. As it was possible to reach all teacher candidates, the entire study group was included in the study and no sample was selected. The population included 1150 students totally and 886 teacher candidates participated the study (77.04%). “Scale for Opinions about Art” developed by Ayaydın, Kurtuldu and Dayı (2017) was used as the data collection tool. This scale consists of 25 Likert type items and two factors named ‘importance of art’ and ‘enjoying art’. Validity and reliability analyzes of the scale were calculated and the Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of the whole scale was measured to be as 0,93. Independent groups t test, variance analysis, Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis H tests were used to analyze the data and the results of the study revealed statistically significant differences between the opinions of the groups.According to the findings of the study, several recommendations are offered to develop positive feelings and thoughts towards art in teacher candidates.</description>

      <title>Candidate Teachers’ Views on Candidate Teacher Training Process (The case of Gaziantep-Osmaniye Provinces )</title>

      <description>In 2016, a new candidate teacher training program was introduced for teachers who are new to the profession. The aim of this study is to reveal prospective teachers' views on this new candidate teacher training process. In this study, the case study of qualitative research methods was used. The participants of the study consisted of 35 prospective teachers included in the candidate teaching process in Gaziantep and Osmaniye. The data of the study were collected by semi-structured interview form and analyzed using content analysis. According to the results of the study, prospective teachers have more negative opinions about the candidate teacher training process and the directive about the subject. Candidate teachers have more positive opinions about school administrators’, advisors’ and their own roles in the process. Candidate teachers stated the advantages of the process as gaining experience, completing the process at the place of residence and introducing professional institutions. Excessive forms, perceived internship, lack of effect on students, no additional fees and lack of summer vacation were asserted by the participants as disadvantages of the process. In the study, various suggestions are presented according to the results of the research.</description>

      <description>There are many factors determining the job satisfaction of teachers. The purpose of this study is to analyze the job satisfaction levels of physical education teachers in terms of some variables. This is a descriptive survey model. As a measurements tool, a 5-point Likert scale developed by Batıgün and Şahin (2006) was used in the study; this scale was composed of two parts, with the first part composed of demographic questions related to the participants and the second part composed of 32 items and six sub-dimensions directed to measuring the job satisfaction of the participants. The research population constitutes Beypazarı, Ayaş, Nallıhan and Güdül districts of Ankara province and the sampling is composed of randomly selected physical education teachers (n=520)  working in public and private schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in these districts. Descriptive statistics, t-test for paired comparisons and ANOVA test for more than paired comparisons were applied in data analysis. In conclusion, it has been determined that the variables of sex, income, employment status of spouse, the place lived, management duty, year of profession, age, occupational tenure, number of children and marital status have created significant differences in job satisfaction of the participants while no significant difference has occurred by the variable of education. It can be stated that the efficiency and effectiveness of teachers can be enhanced by revealing the elements which affect the job satisfaction of physical education teachers in this and similar studies and by conducting relevant studies which will increase the job satisfaction of teachers and taking precautions. </description>

      <description>Hamid region entered under the domination of Hamidogullari, which was founded in 1297, with the collapsing period of Turkey Seljuk State. The region, which was dominated by Hamidogullari for nearly a century, was taken under the domination of the Ottoman state by Yildirim Bayezid in 1391. It was destroyed by Timur in Ankara War in 1402 but it was connected to the Anatolian beylerbeyli with the name Hamid as an Isparta centered Sanjak in the first half of the 15th century. After a long time, it was included in the province of Konya immediately after the 1864 Provincial Regulation. The book numbered 5220 in meshikhat of The Ottoman Archives of the Prime Minister's Office includes important data about the crime cases, security issues and their penalties in the last quarter of the 19th century. The crime issues in the Hamid sanjak between 1873 and 1881 in this book consist of cases such as harming individual freedom and disrupting the social peace.  In addition, the penalties given to the criminals, in the framework of the criminal laws prepared after the Tanzimat period, are like rowing and imprisonment, and only the duration of punishment changes.</description>

      <description>The discipline that examines the way in which names are given, the meaning and the change they have undergone are called toponomy. Toponomy is a discipline where researchers and interested people from many fields work in our country. Although many researchers from various disciplines such as history, geography and especially literature put forward various works about the Turkish toponomy at the national and international scale the number of places where place names are not examined so far is quite high. Increasing the number of such studies; it will be proof to keep the history of our country alive and to preserve its cultural values.Espiye, one of the largest and historical districts of Giresun, has 28 settled villages. All of these villages have their own names. Names of places in the district that have hosted different civilizations and different cultures in previous periods used in different ways in the past years and has reached today. The names of the place bear signs of the history, culture and ethnic identity of people living in the area. This is why Turkey decode the place names within its borders is important. In our study, the names of settlements of Espiye district will be analyzed and grouped in different ways according to their forms of establishment.</description>
