Abstract

The fall of Baghdad and the murder of the last Abbasid caliph al-Mustasim by Hülegü in 1258, had an even greater moral impact than the massacres of the inhabitants of other great cities in the eyes of Muslims. But some of today’s researchers so exaggerated that almost all the events of the Mongol age, reminding Trinity, tried to make sense with this alliance (Vatican-Mongols and especially Armenians). However, this false point of view makes more difficult to understand and explain the events of the period. In this article, in the case of Hülegü’s invasion of Baghdad, it will be emphasized that the necessity of changing of the aforesaid perception.
