Abstract

The Ottoman State carried out periodic censuses in order to determine the taxpayers and to collect regular taxes in places where they conquered. These registers, which are called tahrir, are also called Tahrir Registers”. Tahrir registers are archive sources that provide important information on issues such as estimated population and tax base, tax revenue, administrative taxonomy, agricultural products. Bayezid Sanjak, one of the border starboards of the Ottoman Empire, has two known accounts, one of which is a mujaddal (expatiatory) and the other is an icmal (abstarct). These registers it belongs to the period of III. Murad and is registered in the Archives of Land Register of Cadastre under the name of Bayezid Sanjak and Tevabiha Mufassal Tahrir Register and Bayezid Sanjak and Tevabiha Icmal Register. In the light of the aforementioned registers the socio-economic and demographic structure of the Bayezid Sanjak in the last quarter of the 16th century and the names of the timars in Bayezid Sanjak will be explaine. With this work, we are convinced that important information will be provided to social scientists who will research Bayezid's social and economic life in the 16th century.
