Abstract

Because of its main ideology, both during the period of national struggle and after independence, Turkey turned its face to the Westward and had a limited relationship with the countries of Middle East. However, Turkey was a country in the Middle East and was neighbor to other Middle East countries. After the foundation of the republic, the problems with these neighbors have been complsory for a certain relationship. M. Kemal Atatürk searched for ways to solve problems and develop cooperation he followed a policy that considers the interests of Turkey against the Middle Eastern countries in the frame work of “National Oath”. The border issues with İran, Musul and Hatay have been the most important issues of this period. In this study, the problems experienced with the countries of the Middle East developed relations, collaborations and Atatürk’s policy has been analyzed.
