All scientific endeavors intersect at a common point in their attempt to understand humanity, mutually enriching one another. As a branch of the social sciences, literature continuously interacts with various fields, foremost among which is geography. Historically, geographical factors have exerted a significant influence on the formation of a society’s economic, artistic, and scientific outputs. Furthermore, geography plays a vital role in determining the boundaries and understanding the territories where literary works originate. Through this comprehensive nature, geography shapes literature and provides a foundation for the emergence of literary creations. Artists reflect elements that evolve around a geographical axis-such as belief systems, culture, and ethnic groups-within their works, incorporating them either implicitly or explicitly through creative fictionalization. Consequently, diverse perspectives emerge regarding how spatial reality is portrayed across traditional and modern texts. Intersecting traditional storytelling and geography, this study aims to examine 15th to 17th-century prose narrative texts-namely Tûtînâme, El-Ferec Ba’de’ş-şidde, Cevâmi’ü’l-hikâyât ve Levâmi’ü’r-rivâyât, Câmi’ü’l-hikâyât, Kırk Vezir Hikâyeleri, Meşakku’l-uşşâk, and Nihalistân-in terms of function and geographical reality. Adopting document analysis, a qualitative research method, the study first outlines the definition and development of geography while exploring spatial reality in both modern and traditional narratives. Geographical indicators such as countries, cities, rivers, and tribes within the sample texts were identified and cataloged alphabetically, with their usage exemplified contextually. Subsequently, these indicators were comparatively analyzed regarding their functional roles and degree of realism within specific narratives. The findings reveal that geography in these narratives occasionally reflects historical and geographical reality, whereas in other instances, geographical spaces serve specific narrative functions-initiating plot development in introductory formulas and guiding character actions within the narrative climax.
