Abstract
Derleme niteliğindeki bu çalışmanın amacı, STEM eğitimine, yeni bir bileşen olarak İngilizce okur-yazarlığı” anlamında “Reading” (R) öğesinin eklenmesini tartışmaktır. Belge tarama yönetime göre belirli ölçütlere göre seçilen dokümanlar üzerinden yapılan tartışmada, STEM’in tarihi arka planı, STEM bileşenlerinin işlevleri ve STEM bütünlüğüne yeni bileşen eklenmesi ihtiyacı irdelenmiştir. Bu irdelemelerden STEM eğitiminin, insan zihni ve doğanın bütünsel işleyişine uygun bir yaklaşım olduğu ve bu yaklaşımın sürekli evirilerek günümüze ulaştığı belirlenmiştir. STEM’in, sanat bileşeni eklenmesiyle STEAM’e dönüşmesi, bu evirilmenin sonucu olduğu ve ancak, sonuncusu olmadığı değerlendirilmiştir. Çünkü Bilgi Çağı ve Endüstri 4. 0. Gibi çağımızın dinamikleri, STEM’in de sürekli değişimini gerektirmektedir. Bu gerekliliğe bağlı olarak STEM’e İngilizce okur-yazarlığı” anlamında “Reading” (R) öğesinin eklenmesiyle, STREAM’e dönüşen bu yaklaşımın, eğitimde düşünme, kurgu, imgelem ve hayal kurma gibi bilim ve teknoloji ile ilgili yeni açılımlar sağlaması beklenebilir.

Abstract
The aim of this review study is to discuss the addition of "Reading" (R) in the sense of "English literacy" as a new component to STEM education. In the discussion based on the document scanning method and documents selected according to certain criteria, the historical background of STEM, the functions of STEM components and the need to add a new component to the STEM integrity were examined. From these discussions, it was determined that STEM education is an approach that is in line with the holistic functioning of the human mind and nature, and that this approach has reached the presnet day by constantly evolving. The transformation of STEM into STEAM with the addition of an art component was considered to be the result of this evolution, but not the last one. Because the dynamics of the age, such as the Information Age and Industry 4.0, require STEM to constantly evolve. Depending on this necessity, with the addition of the "Reading" (R) element in the sense of "English literacy" to STEM, this approach, which has turned into STREAM, can be expected to provide new openings related to science and technology such as thinking, fiction, imagination and imagination in education.
